Peerage and baronetage titles
[edit]Hi, per Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(names_and_titles)#British_peerage, we generally include titles at articles about peers and use the format "Sir John Doe, 1st Baronet" at articles about baronets. Please take this into account at future moves of articles. Regards
- Hmm okay, will bear in mind, though I do find it a little odd. Pahari Sahib 09:48, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
- Just a comment on this, I did a few moves and none of the pages moved (with the exception of Robert Clive) had a redirect from their actual name to the name + title. The articles titles seemed unnecessarily long and I had yet read [Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(names_and_titles)#British_peerage|this]. Pahari Sahib 10:12, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

- Curiously enough "everythng" is not hunkydory in India either, there is an Insurgency in North-East India, militant groups like the United Liberation Front of Asom, Naxalite movements across the nation. Easy isn't it to sensationalise the issue. Pahari Sahib 08:28, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Frontier Police
[edit]Hello Pahari Sahib. I moved "Frontier Police" to "Frontier Police (Pakistan)" since I thought that to be clearer. Many countries have or had a frontier police (Google for "frontier police" for example). And in this way it would be directly clear it is the Frontier Police of Pakistan. But as long as there are no other frontier police articles appearing, things can remain as they are. Best regards, Crowsnest (talk) 17:25, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

- I see that you have already been informed that your moves were slightly incorrect (although they were in a good faith). With further moves you should also pay attention at the redirects and correct them to avoid double redirects (see Wikipedia:Double redirects). Regards
- I am sure there's a bot that fixes double redirs, though I sometimes amend it manually like here. Pahari Sahib 16:57, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
- Probably worth explaining why I moved them to begin with, I hadn't noticed Wikipedia:NCNT#British_peerage. nO 4 because I saw this edit and then came to conclusion that "Sir" should not be included in the article title. Pahari Sahib 10:12, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Removing links from history of india
[edit]Hi Pahari Sahib,
Have you removed the link http://www.indohistory.com from the History of India page because it has an anti-pakistan article?
If that is the reason why you have removed the link then I really doubt your eligibility for being an advanced wiki user. Other than the article the site talks about the wholistic history of India much better than any other site on the internet. Moreover the pages are very well organized.
Regards, COW —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cracker.online.wizard (talk • contribs) 09:42, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
- Don't have a cow cracker, the reason it got removed was because it had a spam link, see here, did you ask the same question to User:Ohnoitsjamie or comment on his "eligibility"? Or only asking me as I am Pakistani - oh and I never claimed to be "an advanced wiki user". PS I didn't realise it had an anti Pakistani article till you mentioned it!
- Pahari Sahib 09:53, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
- Furthermore what about this guy, who is quite clearly not Pakistani (Indian in fact) doing this edit. To assuage you, I will leave it in - but its looking pretty likely it will get removed again by other editors. Pahari Sahib 09:58, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
- Told you, four different editors have reverted you (only me being the Pakistani). Pahari Sahib 10:15, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
Article deletion
[edit]Hi,
I see we have quite a few common interests, i.e the society and culture of Pakistan.
I have recently had a few of my articles deleted, the editors seem to be taken a strict line on Pakistani articles. I have had this message left Scarian (talk | contribs) deleted "Punjabi Saudagaran-e-Delhi" (A7: No indication that the article may meet guidelines for inclusion)
Not sure why this has been done. My article gave clear refrences, and avoided hyperbole. Infact, this chap Scarian has deleted almost all my Pakistan related articles. I have looked at A7, and can't see how A7 would apply to any of them. Is this guy Scarian got a history with this. My understanding is that you can't simply go ahead and delete something with out discussing the matter. Not sure how to respond.
Having said that, some of the Pakistan related articles are poorly written. Not sure who else is also editting Pakistan articles, but perhaps if we could work together with others to tidy up the Pakistani articles. I am happy to volunteer.
My background in Mulley (Muslim) Jat (Ahlawat) orignally from Rohtak, now village is now in Mirpur Khas, Sindh. So some articles obviously are Jat related.
Your assistance would be much appreaciated.
Waltham2
- Hi Pahari, any assistance with Waltham is much appreciated. The articles he was creating didn't reach notability as far as I could tell. Although I must confess I have limited knowledge when it comes to these things. The source(s) [He was varying between 1 or 2] he was using didn't seem that strong either. I would much appreciate it if you could point him along the right route? Thanks very much in advance, friend :-) ScarianCall me Pat! 17:15, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Categories
[edit]Hi. PLeas edon't add a generic category to village articles like Category:Pakistan. You should be experienced enough to know what the system is for cities, towns and villages on here see here. Please ocrrect the ones that are in the main Pakistan category thanks. Dr. Blofeld White cat 22:52, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
- It's not actually obligatory - same as say using edit summaries. Pahari Sahib 23:14, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
- Talking of generic cats isn't Category:Cities, towns and villages in the Punjab Region of Pakistan a generic cat? I go over these every now and again and make more specific like here I do also check out Category:Pakistan and put into sub-cats. I put articles in Cat:Pakistan if I am thinking of revisiting them. Sometimes I put articles in generic cats if I couldn't find the specific cat when creating (like here). Pahari Sahib 23:29, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
If you don't catgegorise properly it makes life harder for other people who may be working through the catrgories at a later date. Its difficult sorting out villages already by people who don't use the proper categories given, don't categorise or just place them in category stubs and don't use even main categpries. If I had been working through the proper category trying to improve the articles i would have missed the ones you didn't out in there. Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:54, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Hello to you, I'm from Israel and i wrote in the Hebrew wikipedia the articles about Peshawar, Faisalabad and Gujranwala (and now i'm writing about Multan). I had troubles finding relaiable rain data about Gujranwala. The site of Punjab government [www.punjab.gov.pk]] states 888 milimeters a year. But if I look at nearbye cities like Lahor and Sialkot I find it not so logical. I found two tourists sites with weather data that had different quantities but I didn't want to use it since I found that their Israel rain data isn't relaiable. So, can you help and find a reliable source to this question, and if there are tempratures data as well it will be better. By the way, I wrote in the discussion page of Gujranwala that the coordinates are wrong, and untill now nobody fixed it. Thank you.Tushyk (talk) 17:19, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
